While we try to keep all of our trail ride sizes small, we understand that you may prefer to have a more personalized*, intimate ride.  If that’s the case, then you should sign-up for one of our private rides where our wranglers can help you attain just the sort of ride you are looking for.  Whether it’s getting off the beaten path and exploring the less-frequented areas of the ranch, or sticking to the lower areas where riding at a more brisk pace* is feasible, or just simply getting more personalized attention from your wrangler, a private ride at the Rusty Spurr Ranch is a sure way to have the most custom experience you can find.

What better way to view the beauty of Colorado's wilderness than from the back of a horse? Our non-nose-to-tail rides ensure that our guests receive the personal attention they deserve to have a truly interactive horseback experience. Our remote location, conveniently accessed from scenic Highway 9, ensures the preservation of the same wildlife and landscape that the first settlers discovered in the 19th century. It is not uncommon for guests to encounter deer, elk, antelope and other large game on our rides. You won't find noise from condo construction or other activities here. The whispering of the wind and the steady beat of your horses hooves are all that you will hear as they carry you through forests of aspen and pine to the breathtaking, mountaintop vista of six different mountain ranges and back down through the fragrant, sage-filled high plains desert.

*The minimum charge for a private ride is the price of two riders at the private ride rate.
**As with all of our rides, please remember that pace is the exclusive decision of the wrangler and that we do everything we can to accommodate all requests while maintaining the highest level of safety for our guests and our horses.

POLICIES

	All rides require advanced reservations to ensure availability.
	Private rides require a two-person minimum.
	We are closed on Mondays.
	Age minimums are 15 for the Outlaw Ride 10 for Cattle Drives and 7 for Trail Rides.
	The horses have a 230 lb. weight limit.
	All reservations are subject to a 48-hour cancellation policy.
	We ride in all weather including rain and snow.
	Weather cancellations shall be exclusively the decision of the Rusty Spurr Ranch.
	Please remember that the weather patterns in this area are highly localized and more often than not it is sunny here when it is raining in the ski area towns.
